Michelle is quite worried about Shee Yun after the BM teacher scolding incident. She worries that Shee Yun won't be able to cope with the fiercer teachers at primary school and will resist going to school. I hope it won't come to that.
However when Michelle taught Shee Yun to copy the notes she missed from her classmate during recess time, Shee Yun didn't do it. Shee Yun said she needed the time to finish her recess snack. Shee Yun sometimes doesn't set her priorities right. Also sometimes she finds all sorts of excuses when she doesn't feel like doing what she is told to do, like saying she's tired or she's sleepy or she has no energy when told to do her homework, intentionally being slow, unfocused, weak and clumsy when told to change clothes, allowing herself to cough and vomit when made to take the cough medicine that she doesn't like. She doesn't flatly refuse or object, she delays and makes pained expressions and dilly-dallys. This frustrates Michelle more than how Chen Rui behaves. Chen Rui usually refuses in a straight-forward manner and Michelle can simply tell her sternly to do it (and she will).
It is me who is more easily frustrated by Chen Rui. She is more defiant, more disobedient, at least in a more direct way. Sometimes it drives me nuts. With Shee Yun's softer way, I don't get frustrated so easily and I can still patiently reason with her and persuade her.
So Michelle and Chen Rui are the hard style and Shee Yun and I the soft. Michelle handles Chen Rui better, and I Shee Yun.
In the past week that Shee Yun has been ill, when going upstairs she often asked me to hold her hand and to walk slowly. She wanted support. She was being manja. At those moments of holding her hand walking up the staircase I thought of one day I may be bringing her down the same staircase as a bride to hand over to the groom. I sometimes have these emo moments.
This trip back to KK Shee Yun again didn't bring Tubby and instead brought the baby seal toy (currently called Daisy I think). Now Tubby is delegated to just sleeping by her side. She doesn't play with Tubby now but she does play with Daisy. Now there is a more-or-less permanent Lego Quattro house built for Daisy in the children's room. Shee Yun and Chen Rui built it together. Usually Daisy, teddy and totoro sleep in it. Coincidentally all three of them are white.
