Shee Yun has been having sore throat and fever for a few days. It started on Monday. She didn't go to school on Monday. She said she felt better on Tuesday so she went to school. She came back feeling sick, so we got her to stay home to rest on Wednesday. On Thursday she came home feeling rather sad. She told Michelle that her BM teacher scolded her for being slow in copying the writings on the whiteboard. Shee Yun is still easily upset whenever she gets scolded. She said she couldn't see the whiteboard properly because light was reflecting off it. Michelle told her she needed to raise her hand and let the teacher know. We need to teach her to be stronger. I think she felt 委屈 because the teacher (although being a Chinese) spoke Malay to her (since it is BM class), and she doesn't speak Malay well enough to be able to answer him or to explain why she had difficulties with copying the content on the board.
Primary school teachers will be tougher than her kindergarten teachers. Primary school classes are bigger and the teachers are more stressed. Shee Yun's kindergarten teachers all knew her well. They knew she was fragile and treated her gently. I think they all liked her, because she was obedient and attentive, and she learned well. However they probably also spoilt her a little. I thinks she needs to learn to toughen up a little now that she is in primary school.
Shee Yun doesn't like the cough medicine, and says it's bitter. But she is cooperative when taking the fever medicine and the antibiotics. When she feels weak she tells us "我很晕". Thankfully she is almost fully recovered now.
I like seeing Shee Yun and Chen Rui play together. They can spend a lot of time together playing games they create. Sometimes they fight. We try to let them settle those by themselves. Sometimes they can't and come running to us. Just recently I watched them do a rather different race. It was a slow race. To win you need to be as slow as possible. I saw them stand against a wall, and then start walking in slow motion. I wonder who came up with this idea.
They still speak English to each other. Maybe after they are both in primary school they will gradually switch to Mandarin.
