Chen Rui had her first piano lesson today. She enjoyed it. She was timid and quiet in front of Ms Chong. I think she's always like that in front of her teachers. Quite unlike her playful and mischievous self. But I think sometimes she is talkative at school and at least some of the teachers know, so they don't seat her near her "gang", like Annabelle.
The kindergarten has started teaching Chen Rui to write her own Chinese name 邱晨睿. As I watched her write, I feel a little guilty for having picked this name for her. So many strokes. Well, Michelle is equally to blame. We picked the name together.
Shee Yun's back stroke is finally seeing some improvement. She told me so enthusiastically last Saturday after her swimming lesson.
I brought them to Meeples Cafe, a boardgame cafe near Sunway Pyramid, on Sunday. I went there mainly because of the Members Day Sale. They gave me a free membership because I'm a blogger, and the discount for that event was good. We played children's games, and they enjoyed the games. Chen Rui asked me when we would go again. I said to her but tomorrow is Monday, and both she and Shee Yun need to go to school. She said we can go after school mah. Then I remembered that Meeples Cafe is closed on Mondays, and I told her so. She would not be discouraged. She just asked me what day comes after Monday? She was quite determined.

Ok I gotta say this, it is bloody cruel of you both to give your girls such difficult characters for names. Beautiful names, but...still bloody cruel.=) dothe teachers ahve diffiulty recognising the characters? I rmemeber we had no end of trouble with Elliots name, every year at the start of the new school year, there is bound to be at least one teacher whowon't recognise his 雋。pain in the arse really.
But I thought Elliott's 雋 isn't too rare. I guess that's the thing about Chinese, not always can be 有边读边无边读中间, unlike English where you can at least try to pronouce it.
Ha ha 有邊讀邊無邊讀中間! That's funny. 雋was quite rare 20odd yaers ago, teachers arevpossibly better exposed nowadays, but I can remmeber numerous times where teavhers had to call my mother in and ask her about Elliot's name. I had one teavher call me 蔡代! Can you imagine that? Coz the simplified version of 儀 looked like 代!
