eat your rice or ma will disappear

Yesterday at dinner time Chen Rui didn't want to eat rice. Michelle demanded that she try at least one small spoonful of rice with some sauce, and if she didn't like it she wouldn't be asked to eat more. However Chen Rui didn't even want to chew or swallow that first spoonful that Michelle put in her mouth. She kept it in her mouth and nagged at us repeatedly, "Yuckie". Michelle decided to try a trick that had worked before. She said that if Chen Rui didn't eat her rice, it would mean Michelle was being a bad mother, and thus a monster would come and take Michelle away. Michelle said that if Chen Rui didn't eat that mouthful of rice, that would be the last evening that Chen Rui would see her, and she would be gone the next day. Suddenly Shee Yun started crying and went to hug Michelle tightly, saying she didn't want mama to disappear. That was touching.

Meanwhile Chen Rui just continued to frown and say "Yuckie". Eventually we let her spit out the rice on a piece of tissue paper.

When something tastes bad, Chen Rui describes it as "yuckie". When something hurts, it's "ouchie".

23 Jan 2012. The children like wearing toy jewellery when we go out. But Chen Rui soon finds them uncomfortable and take them off.

Shee Yun is able to keep her jewellery on. When outside she complains about being bored all the time, so sometimes we bring the iPad to keep her occupied.

Chen Rui must have done or said something naughty to Shee Yun.
