3 bubbles at the same time

Chen Rui showed me the way she makes three bubbles when taking a bath. These are not really bubbles per se, but are soapy membranes that she makes with her body parts. I taught the children how to play with these, but they brought it to newer heights. 青出于蓝. The basic technique that I had taught them was just to make one bubble using the both arms and the chest to form a circle. When Chen Rui made her three circles, she sat down on a stool (with soap all over her body, of course), and made the first bubble the way I had taught her. Then she rested her left foot on her right knee, forming a triangle between her left knee, right knee and groin. That was the second bubble stretched within this triangle. The third triangle was when she split the first bubble using the lower half of her left leg, which was horizontally in front of her. Three bubbles.

Recently Michelle discovered some hair on the floor, and after investigation, we found out that Chen Rui had helped herself to a pair of scissors to cut her own hair. She said it blocked her view. I told her she needs to make sure the cut hair goes to the dustbin.

24 Dec 2011. Chen Rui and her birthday present - a Barbie car.

Today Shee Yun started learning butterfly stroke at her swimming class. I was shocked. I didn't expect the teacher to be teaching butterfly. Shee Yun's back stroke is finally showing some improvement, but still needs work. Learning butterfly stroke was probably quite taxing. Shee Yun had a big appetite at dinner time. Even when taking her bath she kept saying she was hungry and "我有很多胃口" (must be because sometimes we use the phrase "没有胃口"). Michelle cooked two medium sized fishes for dinner, and after eating the back half of one of them (i.e. the half with more meat), Shee Yun asked for more, and finished the other back half that we gave to her. She also asked for extra rice, and finished it.

Shee Yun was a little disappointed that her class teacher did not appoint her to be class monitor or group leader. She seems keen to take on responsibilities and to be helpful assistants. I hope she will get her chance later, after her teacher gets to know her better.
