Yesterday evening when Michelle went to check on Shee Yun at bedtime, she found Shee Yun crying. This came out of nowhere. Shee Yun said to Michelle that I don't accompany her and Chen Rui anymore during bedtime and that I don't tell them stories anymore. She hasn't asked me to tell her stories for quite some time. I didn't realise she still wants me to. Also since coming back from Oman, the children have been able to go to bed by themselves and do not need company. So I simply don't go to their room when it is their bedtime. I used to bring my laptop there and accompany them for about half an hour while they fall asleep. I'm really running out of ideas for stories. Maybe I will need to think of novels that I have read and try to convert some of those stories into children versions.
Now Shee Yun sometimes calls me Captain, because of the Sid Meier's Pirates computer game that I play and the girls watch me play. They are both my First Mates (although normally I think there is only one First Mate on a ship). The game is in English, and when I play, the children speak English to me. Now I have an urge to read Treasure Island. I used to have a comic book version, in Chinese, which has gone missing. In addition to the Treasure Island story, it also had interesting facts about pirates, like how they split loot according to rank, how they punish wrongdoers.
