orientation day

Today Michelle brought Shee Yun to orientation day at Naam Kheung Primary School. It turned out that one of Shee Yun's classmates from kindergarten is also her classmate at primary school. So at least there is a familiar face, but not that I need Shee Yun needs that. Shee Yun likes her school and looks forward to starting school. The only thing she doesn't like is the toilet, which she finds smelly. I think all school toilets are like that. The toilets are squat toilets too, which Shee Yun almost never uses, but she seems to have no problem using them.

17 Dec 2011. Shee Yun at Fraser's Hill. Photo taken by Chen Rui I think.

16 Dec 2011. Flowers at Fraser's Hill.

18 Dec 2011. Chen Rui and I with the small clock tower at Fraser's Hill. Photo taken by Shee Yun.

When Michelle took this photo, both the girls struck poses. They look like doing some taichi sword movement. 华山论剑。

It's Michelle and my 10th anniversary today. It's 20 years if counting when we first met.

17 Dec 2011. Lunch at Fraser's Hill.

Jst noticed your little caption about your 10/20th anjnivsary with Michelle...congratulations. You know, I recently watched a film called Blue Valentine. It really touched me, I think it touched a lot of people...it almost asks the question, what is love? Is that enough? You know what
I mean? Like, you look at some couples, they can't even stand being next to each other, yet if you go back to 10yrs ago whne they first met, they must've been kinda madly in love, at least at the beginning, where did that go? What makes that 'love' disappear? Is it the pressure of everyay life? Being forced to share the same space? Maybe couples just changed and grew? Maybe your spouse turned out not to be the person you thoughtbthey were? But they were nice to you, they bring the bread home, they are faithful, you should be happy right? But what if you are not? The film made me think about it a lot. It was such an honest, unflinching look at 'what happens after the 'happily ever after''. But ultimately it made me just want to work harder at my relationship.

So, after all that crap above, I really just want to say,' well done', and I want to say this to every single happy couple, because you know, keeping that relationship going has gotta be one of the hardest things in life, simply because it is so so easy to put everything else like money, work,
children, pets before it. So , Well done, and I hope you and Michelle will have many many happy yaers ahead of you. And watch that film if you can...=)

Have you watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (Jim Carrey, Kate Winslet)? What you said reminds me of that movie, which I like a lot. I watched it without knowing anything about it and without expectations, and was pleasantly surprised. If you haven't watched it and plan to, remember not to read anything about it beforehand. I think it makes the movie much more enjoyable.

I think in all relationships people will grow and change, and making a relationship continue to work requires making sacrifices and putting in effort.

You know, thta is one of the films On my "to watch' list. I hardly watch any movies nowadays, there are no cinemas anywheer near where I live, I have to drive into town and a trip to the cinema basically takes up the hwole evening, so its a real luxury I can't regularly afford. I have watched precisely two movies tjis year, 'tinker, talor, soldier, spy' and ' blue valentine' i watched Blue Vlanetine on some crappy internet transmission on my home computer, so that brings the grand total of cinema trip this year to precisely (drum roll)....one. Sad isn't it? I will sit down and watch the etrnal sunshine, I have heard very good reiews about it. Oh, we don't get any dvd rental places here either, so if the local library doens't stock it, I have to buy it. We are lucky that the library does have a pretty good selection of dvds, but still, Thank god for Amazon.co.uk!

Squat toikets are the best!! Like, I will NEVER sit on a public toilet, in fact .i try and avoid public toikets altogether, which makes it so damn awkward, squat toioets are just the most ingenius way of overcoming a lot of the problems us ladies face with public loos, guys, youare so lucky, you will never understand....however, my english frend did once encounter the squat toilet in kk and totally freaked out....
